What is L&D Bootstrapping? (a manifesto)

Learning and Development is a multi-million-pound industry - a fact on which I have carried out absolutely no research at all, so I'm basically assuming it's true.

That said, chances are that anyone who's done even a cursory internet search for e-learning will have been overwhelmed by the sheer number of options available, many of which come with a pretty tidy price tag.

Throughout my career in Learning & Development, I have frequently needed to create learning resources with little-to-no money, using only the tools that were already available. But a scarcity of resources can force us to get creative.

Yes, L&D is (probably) a multi-million-pound industry, but that doesn't mean it has to cost us the earth.

The mission of The Learning and Development Bootstrapper is to share ways of creating engaging, professional learning solutions that address and resolve real-world problems, using a combination of free or low-cost and readily-available tools and resources. As proof of concept, all content available from The Learning and Development Bootstrapper will be mashed together using those same tools and resources.
